NJ Residents - URGENT - Vaccination Choice Rally in Trenton on October 16th!

27 September, 2008 (21:26) | 5. News | By: Mom

We must stand united and deliver BIG numbers on October 16th. Tell everyone you know. Carpool with friends. Pick your favorite flyers, leave a big pile in your car and plaster them everywhere. Flyer #2 in our series is attached below with at least three more to follow.

Go to www.njvaccinationchoice.org. Soon, they’ll post their press release, suggestions for signs and banners, details about their letter writing campaign and a description of the photo/music montage. Bring photos of all the children on whose behalf you are demanding vaccination choice.

Featured speakers include Asw Charlotte Vandervalk (primary sponsor of the conscientious exemption bill), board-certified pediatrician Dr. Larry Rosen, board-certified pediatrician Dr. Larry Palevsky, vaccine injury and disabled children’s rights attorney Bob Krakow and Autism United and Autism Action Network (formerly A-CHAMP) founder John Gilmore.

SPEAKERS
If you are interested in speaking at the rally, let Louise know as soon as possible. In addition to our featured speakers, they plan to hold a powerful “rapid testimony sequence” for medical doctors, nurses, chiropractors, homeopaths, clergy, scientists, educators, soldiers, politicians, journalists, activists, homeschoolers and many parents including those whose children were harmed and killed by vaccines. And perhaps a celebrity or two. We all love our children.

Governor Corzine, Health Commissioner Howard and all NJ legislators will be invited to join us. Check the www.njvaccinationchoice.org website this week for an invitation you can send to your legislators with a personal letter asking them to attend. To find your legislators, go to www.njvaccinationchoice.org and click on Find Legislators. We plan to publicly thank each of our primary and co-sponsors. http://www.njvaccinationchoice.org/sponsors.html

HEALTH COMMISSIONER HOWARD
The rally was scheduled to immediately follow Louise Kuo Habakus’ meeting with Health Commissioner Howard. Her assistant called on Thursday to reschedule. Louise told her that she had invited several important professionals to join her and there would be upwards of one thousand parents and professionals meeting her in Trenton to hear about the meeting and to rally for vaccination choice. Out of concern for the schedules of so many, could she possibly keep the meeting on the morning of 10/16? And if not, we would be delighted to meet with Governor Corzine instead. No word back yet… Louise will keep us posted.

HELP US
Rally t-shirts will be available soon! Donate to support the rally. http://www.njvaccinationchoice.org/donations.html

Contact Louise if you can help volunteer, a little or a lot. Areas include carpool, district coordination, press/media outreach, marketing, letter writing, rally marshall.

IMPORTANT MESSAGE
Please remember that this is a rally for vaccination choice. We embrace people who want all, some or no shots. For a procedure that can kill, cause permanent traumatic brain injury and produce lifelong chronic disease, we believe parents must be allowed to weigh the risks/benefits and make the tradeoff for their children in consultation with the doctors of their choice… child by child and vaccine by vaccine.

Scribbles of thoughts for this week

25 September, 2008 (10:39) | Journal | By: Mom

We are seeing some great things emerge here this week - and I must admit, I’m excited. My thoughts are all over the place, so I apologize.

Nicholas sat with me two nights ago, playing with his erector-set type of toy I talked about in a previous post and he’s using the tools to take the screws out and put them back in. He’s not getting frustrated, he’s not throwing the pieces around or letting them fall where they may. He’s working on building different shapes and he’s just different.

While I was typing this, he just ran past me twice and put the rest of his quesadilla in the garbage since he was done eating. Um… who taught him that? Oh wait, three times.

He sat and re-built his train set with Daddy last night. This is not something that he has not done before, but how this was different this time was that he was leading the design and telling Daddy where he wanted pieces, where to move them to, etc. He’s made some awesome tracks all by himself in the past, but this time he was looking at it, redoing things and testing them, then either changing what he had done or moving on to the next area.

I faked crying the other night to see what he would do. I do this every once in a while just to see his response. In the past, he usually just walked away unphased, or screamed to get me to stop. The other night, he came over and patted my back and gave me a hug.

The Autism File Magazine

25 September, 2008 (10:31) | 2. Resources | By: Mom

I just had to post about a magazine I picked up yesterday at Barnes & Noble. I haven’t even read this all yet and I can’t even begin to tell you what an amazing magazine this is. What’s even more amazing is that it was in the magazine rack of Barnes & Noble. So check out your local bookstore and buy a copy of this - you won’t be disappointed — and you’ll send a message to the bookstore that they need to carry magazines like this too!

2008 PTA Meeting with school - by dad

24 September, 2008 (00:35) | Journal | By: Dad

Tonight i met with Nicholas’ teacher for the first time this year. It was a general meeting about all the kids in his class but i had the chance for a one on one with his teacher. She asked what we had done over the summer because he was like a new kid! She said he was repeating everything they said and is learning new things every day. He rarely gives them a hard time anymore and is very responsive to their requests. He plays much better with the other kids and helps them build things. The speech therapist was at a conference but i had a chance to speak to her a few days earlier and she just lit up talking about him. He repeats everything she says and she is introducing new words to him everyday.

Biological Treatments for Autism & PDD by Dr. William Shaw

I ordered this book last week and upon receiving it, could not put it down for a second. I can already tell that this is going to be a valuable book in my collection. You know, the kind which never leaves your desk because you are always referencing something in it, the kind that you read from beginning to end four times kind of good.

See School Bus… RUN!

23 September, 2008 (11:53) | Journal | By: Mom

Nicholas left for school a little while ago. When the bus got here, Daddy was putting on his shoes. Nicholas ran right out the door and across the front lawn to get on the bus. Then turned around and said Bye Mommy!
