10 years ago the US CDC…

27 January, 2009 (12:21) | 5. News | By: Mom

10 years ago, the US CDC partially supported the study titled, “Neuropsychological Performance 10 Years After Immunization in Infancy With Thimerosal-Containing Vaccines”

10 years ago. 10 years.

I’ve known that the connection has been known for quite some time, but seeing this in print like this just hurts. Again.

They were already setting themselves up to disprove this link 10 years ago. And Nicholas will be 5 later this year. So seeing the numbers in print really hurts.

Yes folks, just another poorly designed study to tell the world what they want the world to be told… and it’s a big fat stinking lie and the number of people who know it’s a lie increases on a daily basis. Both groups of children injected (deliberately) with thimerosal. The thought makes me sick to my stomach.

High Fructose Corn Syrup contaminated with Mercury

27 January, 2009 (05:09) | 5. News | By: Mom

This is disgraceful on so many levels. First melamine in our food supply… and now this. How do we trust anyone at this point with the food we buy and feed to our families? Why does this keep happening? and for crying out loud, where the hell is the FDA? (Not like I have any faith in them anymore, but come on! Side note: this is what kills me about people too — they have blinders on to this stuff, to this blatant failure of a system that we believe is protecting us from these kinds of things in our food and drugs — but yet, most people see this and see the problem, but bring up vaccines and the FDA’s failure to protect our kids - and wow, the FDA becomes the equivalent of the holy grail.)

So, in light of this report, I have thrown away the food products which tested positive for mercury on this list. My beloved bottle of heinz ketchup - gone. My smuckers strawbelly jelly - gone. My hershey’s chocolate syrup - gone. The list goes on and on. I will be writing to each of these companies to let them know they have lost a customer - and you should really do the same. Until we stand up and demand better food products instead of ones laden with High Fructose Corn Syrup and send clear messages to those companies to keep cranking out this crap they call food - nothing will ever change.

On another note, I would like to thank the IATP, Heinz, Smuckers and Hershey for giving me the final kick in the ass I needed to permanently remove this crap from our diets. New rule in our house, if it says HFCS on the label, it’s not being purchased.

From the: Institute for Agriculture and Trade Policy

Two new papers look at the presence of mercury in high fructose corn syrup (HFCS). An article in Environmental Health finds mercury in commercial HFCS. An IATP study finds mercury in common foods and beverages.

Much High Fructose Corn Syrup Contaminated With Mercury, New Study Finds Press release | Jan 26 | PDF

Environmental Health article

Table A: Total mercury detected in 55 brand-name foods and beverages high in HFCS. PDF

PS: I just wanted to add that there was no detectable amount of mercury in the Heinz ketchup in the bottle that was tested, but I still decided to throw it away. From the study, it’s like playing russian roulette where not all items are made with the HFCS that contains mercury. It seems like a problem of what source the manufacturer uses at a given time — in addition to the fact that other heinz products did have mercury – I will not take the chance on eating it any longer. This was not a huge study – so perhaps they grabbed the bottle of ketchup which was not contaminated, and the bottle behind that one on the shelf (or in another store entirely) is contaminated. Removing the consumption of foods with HFCS can only be good for us – I am so sick of what is passed off as acceptable when it comes to our food supply and health.

The cold bug bit Nicholas

26 January, 2009 (05:09) | Journal | By: Mom

Ug! Nicholas started getting a cold yesterday right along with the rest of us. Poor thing keeps telling us his tongue hurts when really trying to tell us he has a sore throat. He keeps wanting band-aids for it.

Preparing your child’s supplements… there is an easier way!

24 January, 2009 (00:08) | 4. Biomed, Supplements | By: Mom

I’ve been preparing Nicholas’s powdered supplements a week at a time for a long time - but before I found these pill containers, I was opening capsules several times a day every day. If you do the same thing I did, then you know that it’s just exhausting. So, I figured I would share what I do just in case it can help someone….

I bought several sets of these Vitaminder Pill Case Stacker Containers: http://www.iherb.com/ProductDetails.aspx?pid=5977
(Get $5.00 off your first purchase at iherb.com with code: TUM744)

For Nicholas’s supplements, I have his doses split up in 4 doses which I give throughout the day. The first one is given either before he wakes up or as he wakes up. The second he gets after school. The third he gets after dinner. The fourth one is given right before bed or he takes it with him to bed.

So I need 4 containers for each day. In the photo below, you are seeing 5 days worth of containers:

Supplement How-to - Step One

I made myself a map in microsoft excel which shows me which supplement goes into which container - which really helps me to do this efficiently and without making mistakes. Note: I do not add any enzymes or enhansa (curcumin) into this mix.

Next, I go through the capsule section of my map and add the capsules to each container:

Supplement How-to - Step Two

Next, I take one little container at a time and open each capsule, carefully emptying the contents into that container:

Supplement How-to - Step Three

Next, I add the supplements I have in powder form such as Vitamin C, Inositol, Amino blend, etc.

Then I put them together keeping them in 1 - 4 order from top to bottom, so I am always using the top compartment first.

Supplement How-to - Step Four

Putting together his supplements this way has reduced the time dramatically. Now I just add his liquid supplements to a glass bottle, add one compartment of his powdered supplements and some pear juice and shake.

PS - If you are adding a new supplement one week - DO NOT add it to this mix - wait until you know it’s a keeper. If your child responds negatively to that particular supplement, you will be wasting days worth of supplements at a time.

Here is a print-screen of the excel spreadsheet I keep so that doing this is quick and easy:

Supplement Discounts

23 January, 2009 (22:22) | 2. Resources, 4. Biomed, Supplements | By: Mom

I try to make it a point of buying Nicholas’s supplements from places that give me the biggest bang for my buck without risking loss of quality. So, i am sharing these with you… hope someone can get some use out of them! (and if you’ve got a discount to add, email me!)

  • Vitacost.com - sign up for a free ebates account here to get 5% back on each purchase!
  • iherb.com - Get $5 off of your first purchase with code TUM744
  • OurKidsASD.com - you can usually find a code on AgeofAutism.com for free shipping on orders over $40 - and they carry alot of the supplements listed below including Kirkman and their customer service is top-notch!
  • Enzymedica - if you are using any high-dosage protocols of Virastop, etc., you may be better off ordering from either getbigger.com or order from Theramedix (Enzymedica’s more potent line)
  • Kirkman has a monthly newsletter which usually contains a coupon code, so you should sign up for the Kirkman Family Program here
  • LuckyVitamin.com has free shipping if you spend over $100 - they are very slow to ship, so don’t order from here if you need something in a hurry.
  • Many doctors have supplements relabeled with their own labels - sometimes saving you money, sometimes not. Anyway, compare what your doctor has sold you to the supplements at Klaire, ProThera, Douglas Laboratories and Kirkman Labs and see if you are actually getting a good deal or not. (These companies offer labeling services for doctors, so compare the ingredients and find out where they’re getting them from!)

    Amalgam Removal

    19 January, 2009 (17:26) | Journal | By: Mom

I had 2 of my possible 3 amalgams removed last week. I say possible, because one is a crown and we don’t know what is under it, even with x-rays - so until the crown is replaced (soon, I hope), I have to assume it’s an amalgam.

If you haven’t already seen the smoking tooth video, you must see how a mercury amalgam continues to release vapors. I just could not take the risk of leaving them in any longer.

The International Academy of Oral Medicine & Toxicology has a doctor finder and proper removal instructions on their website, click here to go to IAOMT.org.
Click here for Safe Removal Instructions

I am having these removed for several reasons - the first and most important one is I have witnessed first hand what mercury can do to a person. Two, when I received my epidural, the 2nd shot which came out of a multi-dose vial, my hearing turned robotic - meaning, every one, every sound, every word sounded like it was coming from a robot. The anesthesiologist looked at me like I was crazy, repeating that it was normal to “taste” metal and he was insisting I was tasting it and not hearing it. After practically freaking out and repeating myself over and over, my hearing went back to normal. I had not thought about this until after my son was diagnosed - and to this day, has me wondering if this was not one insult of many to his little body. After researching this, I found that a hearing issue like this could be from the anesthesiologist placing the epidural incorrectly and rupturing my dural space. (Incidentally, this is a malpractice offence, so it no longer surprises me when he looked at me in this manner.) Aside from the doctor screwing up, no one can answer the one question that seems so simple to me… what was in this epidural which would have caused my hearing to turn metallic? What is in this epidural in which tasting metal would be a normal side effect? Could the epidural contained a chelating agent like EDTA which perhaps pulled mercury from my filling sending it into my bloodstream and as a result into Nicholas’s bloodstream? I just don’t know. I don’t have answers to these questions. Before Nicholas was born, my mind was sharp - I could remember details of conversations verbatim, I would remember everything without having to write things down. Overnight, I lost that ability. One day, I had a clear, vibrant mind and the next I felt like I was in a fog - and still do to this day. Is all of this connected? Possibly. I’m not spending any more time trying to figure out out. When Nicholas was born, I wanted another baby - and clearly remember telling my husband that I did not want to wait until he was even one to try again. Well, life happens and interferes, so we were waiting a little longer - then Nicholas disappeared in front of our eyes and having another child was no longer on the table for me. I want to get to the place where I can say, “yeah, let’s do this again! We won’t vaccinate and he/she will be fine.” But I just can’t get there. Maybe once my amalgams are out and I have a hair and urine panel run, and Nicholas is almost recovered, I will feel differently. I worry about Nicholas after we are gone. I worry about who his family will be. I worry that feeling a younger brother or sister who is NT to look after him is just selfish on my part - and putting a huge job on a child who isn’t even conceived yet. And then worrying if that child won’t think the only reason she/he exists is to help his/her brother - which isn’t even remotely close to the truth.
And then I dive into research studies which just lead me to keep asking the same question — How many diseases and ailments start with heavy metal toxicity? More than you can even imagine. So, aside from getting my mind back, I would like to be pro-active at taking charge of my health and the first step for me is removing a huge source of toxicity. Will Nicholas ever have a sibling? I don’t know. But what I do know, is that we are done with mercury in this house.

    Nicholas got dressed….by himself

    19 January, 2009 (13:10) | Journal | By: Mom

So, when Nicholas got up this morning he was all wet, so I stripped him down and changed his diaper and came downstairs to throw his sheets and stuff in the wash. 5 minutes later, Nicholas comes downstairs FULLY DRESSED!!!! in a matching outfit that was hanging in his closet!
