Who is paying YOUR local vaccination expert/pediatrician?

23 July, 2008 (20:42) | 6 - News | By: Mom

If you think your doctor is giving you truly honest answers when you ask questions about vaccinating your child, perhaps you are asking the wrong questions.

How about asking them if you can see a full disclosure on all of their income. Many vaccine researchers and pediatricians are paid in one way or another by the pharmaceutical industry. Paid by pharma does not equal unbiased information and complete honesty.

Evidence in point:

McDonald’s Nutrition Manager Needs You…

23 July, 2008 (20:03) | 6 - News | By: Mom

From the Feingold Association:

McDonald’s has been in touch with the CSPI (Center for Science in the Public Interest) and has told them that they really aren’t sure that Americans are concerned about the fact that their food contains synthetic dyes. McDonald’s has asked their nutrition & labeling manager, Julia Braun, to gather information on whether or not consumers have any interest in this area.

Julia says that McDonald’s rarely does anything unless they can document a consumer demand, so she has invited parents to write to her and share their feelings about food dyes, and she has provided information below on how to reach her.

I have not included a prepared letter because I know each of you has a unique story about how the additives have affected your family, and how you deal with that problem - and each of you has a child who would really like to eat the fries at McDonald’s if they would just get the TBHQ out of the cooking oil (okay, that is not part of “this issue,” but don’t hesitate to mention it if it is important to you).

Just in case you are short on words to describe the food colorings, don’t hesitate to use terms like “land mines” and “booby traps” - because that is what they often are to our children, as well as the less lucky kids who don’t know about the Feingold Program and don’t even know what is bothering them.

Reading between the sheets

23 July, 2008 (19:47) | Journal | By: Mom

So, I saw these Cars sheets in Target I just had to get for Nicholas’s bed. Chock full of toxic chemicals, I’m sure, but hey, every once in a while, he needs something fun too. (PS - wash anything like this in Arm & Hammer laundry detergent to get the flame retardants out of them - it takes about 5-6 washes, but it pulls alot out.)

Anyway, they have advertisements for Lightning McQueen and Tow Mater all over them with their names written around them. Today, Nicholas was pointing at each letter and saying the letter and then making the sound of the letter. Then, he dropped saying the letter and was just sounding out one letter at a time. All while we (mommy and Wes) were watching him with our mouths wide open. He was just short of reading the words. Wow.

This has been a great day. Every day, Nicholas is more engaging, more chatty - just more here.
