Paul Offit wrote a book, Autism’s False Prophets, with the overt goal of repudiating the biomedical treatment movement for autism. Of course, the real goal of the book, and how it’s being used today, is to convince parents to keep on vaccinating.
As an inventor of the Rotateq (HERE) vaccine, a man who voted his own vaccine (HERE) onto the childhood schedule, and a multi-millionaire after his vaccine was sold to Merck, Offit has plenty of time on his hands to protect his legacy and the legacy of his peers.
The AAP has done a great job of getting Offit’s book out to their pediatric base, many of whom give the book to parents when they express concerns about vaccination. I have personal friends who have come home from their doctor with a copy of his book in hand.
The book is filled with factual errors and/or completely made-up information about a wide variety of our community’s most important players, including Dr. Andrew Wakefield, David Kirby, RFK JR., and Jenny McCarthy, to name just a few.

Answer: Other than “cohort studies,” there isn’t any. And the cohort studies have been thoroughly debunked. Scientifically speaking, there isn’t a scrap of honest evidence showing flu vaccines work at all.
#3) How can methyl mercury (Thimerosal, a preservative used in flu vaccines) be safe for injecting into the human body when mercury is an extremely toxic heavy metal?
Answer: It isn’t safe at all. Methyl mercury is a poison. Along with vaccine adjuvants, it explains why so many people suffer autism or other debilitating neurological side effects after being vaccinated.

Answer: Because vitamin D can’t be patented and sold as “medicine.” You can make it yourself. If you want more vitamin D, you don’t even need a doctor, and doctors tend not to recommend things that put them out of business.

#7) If the flu vaccine offers protection against the flu, then why are the people who often catch the flu the very same people who were vaccinated against it?
Answer: Because those most vulnerable to influenza infections are the very same people who have a poor adaptive response to the vaccines and don’t build antibodies. In other words flu vaccines only “work” on people who don’t need them. (And even building antibodies doesn’t equate to real-world protection from the flu, by the way.)

Answer: There was no change in the death rate. You could drop vaccination rates to zero percent and you’d still see no change in the number of people dying from the flu. That’s because flu vaccines simply don’t work.
#9) How can flu vaccines reduce mortality by 50% (as is claimed) when only about 10% of winter deaths are related to the flu in the first place?
They can’t. The 50% statistic is an example of quack medical marketing. If I have a room full of 100 people, then I take the 50 healthiest people and hand them a candy bar, I can’t then scientifically claim that “candy bars make people healthy.” That’s essentially the same logic behind the “50% reduction in mortality” claim of flu vaccines. Answer: Although they claim such studies would be “unethical,” what’s far more unethical is to keep injecting hundreds of millions of people every year with useless, harmful vaccines that aren’t backed by a shred of honest evidence.

Separate measles, mumps, rubella vaccine formulations discontinued
October 23rd, 2009 Mom So, despite the fact that Merck reassured us that they would bring back the separate measles, mumps and rubella vaccines, they have apparently changed their minds and decided against doing such afterall. So, for those parents who wished to space out the vaccination schedule and give ONE LIVE VIRUS vaccination at a time, the choice has been taken away from you. So, why not just send your message loud and clear and let them know that you will or are going to decline the MMR combination vaccine and let Merck know why.
I know what the MMR has done to Nicholas. So many parents tell the same story. There is no such thing a genetic epidemic.
Merck knows exactly what they’re doing here. I do not believe they ever intended to bring back the single vaccines. Doesn’t it make you wonder what would happen if enough parents used the single vaxes and the autism rate actually declined? I certainly don’t think the MMR is the only cause of autism, but I certainly think it’s part of it for many, many children.
Here’s another thought for you… in the past few years, the rate of autism jumped significantly. Do you think your kids got through okay, so it must be genetics and nothing else? How about thinking about your future grandchildren? By the time your children are having children, the autism rate will most likely be 1 in 2 given the rate in which it is climbing. Do you feel comfortable about flipping a coin with something like this?
Separate measles, mumps, rubella vaccine formulations discontinued
A representative from Merck announced that the company plans to discontinue production of monovalent measles, mumps, rubella vaccine formulations during the Advisory Committee on Immunization Practice’s meeting yesterday.
“We greatly value the role the CDC and the ACIP have taken in putting forth recommendations and policies about the optimal use of vaccines for infectious diseases. Similarly, we take our role very seriously in terms of developing and supplying vaccines that are optimally suited to meet these needs,” said Mark Feinberg, MD, PhD, vice president of medical affairs in Merck’s division of vaccines and infectious diseases. “Based on discussions that took place at the last ACIP meeting among scientific leaders we have decided that Merck will not resume production of our monovalent measles, mumps and rubella vaccines.”
Feinberg added that the company will focus attention to meet current prevention needs on production of the combination M-M-R II vaccine. “When we receive questions from parents or other interested parties we will refer them to the useful information provided by the CDC, the ACIP, the AAP and other professional organizations.”
The announcement occurred during discussions to streamline recommendations made during the past year in the committee’s 2010 immunization schedules for children and adults. Merck’s decision is based on the ACIP’s stated general preference for combination vaccines and follows controversial debates concerning the increased risk for febrile seizures among measles, mumps, rubella and varicella virus live vaccine (ProQuad, Merck) recipients at the past several meetings.
Health care providers continue to experience push back from vaccine-hesitant parents, despite no evidence to support long term adverse events among patients who experienced the seizures and amid additional unfounded concerns that vaccines cause autism. These parents either decline vaccination or request to space out recommended vaccines, contrary to evidence that indicates delaying vaccines poses a greater risk to children than the theoretical threat from vaccines.
Merck’s announcement was welcomed by applause from committee members and meeting attendees, who recognized the moves potential positive effect on public health. Combination vaccine formulations typically cost more for manufacturers to produce, undergo more rigorous testing to receive approval and yield lower reimbursement rates for physicians, but result in less pain for children and have the potential to improve vaccine coverage rates.
In addition to the announcement, the committee passed motions to incorporate clarified language concerning decisions made earlier this year, including:
Changes to footnotes for hepatitis A and B, Haemophilus influenzae type B, inactivated polio, meningcococcal and rotavirus vaccines in the childhood and adolescent immunization schedule.
Clarifications in intervals between pneumococcal vaccine administration in the childhood schedules.
Language to distinguish between seasonal and H1N1 influenza in both the child, adolescent and adult schedules.

General recommendations for handling and storing herpes zoster vaccine.
Final language and wording changes will be reflected in the 2010 immunization schedules available to health care providers in the Jan. 8 issue of the Morbidity and Mortality Weekly Report. – by Nicole Blazek
