We are seeing some great things emerge here this week – and I must admit, I’m excited. My thoughts are all over the place, so I apologize.
Nicholas sat with me two nights ago, playing with his erector-set type of toy I talked about in a previous post and he’s using the tools to take the screws out and put them back in. He’s not getting frustrated, he’s not throwing the pieces around or letting them fall where they may. He’s working on building different shapes and he’s just different.
While I was typing this, he just ran past me twice and put the rest of his quesadilla in the garbage since he was done eating. Um… who taught him that? Oh wait, three times.
He sat and re-built his train set with Daddy last night. This is not something that he has not done before, but how this was different this time was that he was leading the design and telling Daddy where he wanted pieces, where to move them to, etc. He’s made some awesome tracks all by himself in the past, but this time he was looking at it, redoing things and testing them, then either changing what he had done or moving on to the next area.
I faked crying the other night to see what he would do. I do this every once in a while just to see his response. In the past, he usually just walked away unphased, or screamed to get me to stop. The other night, he came over and patted my back and gave me a hug.

That is seriously huge Michelle. I am most defintiely impressed with the crying part. I too do that often, and hopefully one day I will get a hug too! Way to go Nicholas.
That’s awesome Michelle!
