So tired of all the chemicals… in everything. I give up – I’m going green!

Frustrating, frustrating, frustrating.

Do you know what ingredients are in the products you use???  I mean, really know what they are??  Let me tell you, ignorance is bliss.  My head spins with these details.  It’s overwhelming.  Here’s what I’ve already done to make our house a more green environment…. and I’ll be doing more, I assure you.

I gave away every toxic cleaning product we had in the house and replaced a majority of them with the Method line of cleaners.  That’s just the beginning though, a mere tip of the chemical iceberg, so to speak.  I really like their bathroom sprays and the lavendar dish detergent.

I’m going to make my own laundry detergent, fabric softener, etc.  Yep, you read that right.  I am making my own.  Yep, the girl who thrives on convenience is going to make her own soap!  So, if you’re wondering how, I’ll post the recipies…..

Laundry Detergent:  1/2 cup borax, 1/2 washing soda and 1 cup grated fels naptha (laundry soap bar) – It’s very concentrated, you only need to use 1 tbsp on a normal load and 2 on a large or heavily soiled load.

Fabric Softener:  Take an old Downey bottle (or any bottle), fill it with White Vinegar, add a few tablespoons of baking soda (for some nice added freshness) and a few drops of Lavendar essential oil and shake.

Dishwasher Detergent: Take a tupperware container and fill with equal parts of Borax and baking Soda, each load takes 2 tablespoons.  Fill the jet dry dispenser with vinegar.

(100% Sodium Carbonite from a pool store should work just as well as the washing soda in case you cannot find it)

and that’s just the beginning.  These companies have lost my money on their toxic products.
