Round 11 Complete!

It’s Monday again and we’re another round closer to recovery! Every weekend I say the same thing – why didnt we start this sooner!

Still same dose – 12.5 dmsa and 6.25 ala

1.2.3.4… Hide and Go Seek Mommy

Today was a great day. Nicholas surprised me with some new things and I’m just so amazed by him today. We’re in the midst of chelation round #11 and with each weekend that we chelate, he is just getting better and better.

Earlier tonight, Nicholas went into the kitchen and leaned up against the wall, covered his eyes and started counting. I jumped up and said Nicholas are you playing hide and seek? He said yes. I said okay, count again and mommy will go hide. 1 2 3 4 Hide and Go Seek Mommy…. I ran downstairs and jumped in the chamber. I figured he’d lose interest and I’d be lying in there for a while. Nope, he ran around the house looking for me. When he found me. I was beyond shocked. Then about an hour later, I covered my eyes and started counting and he ran and hid. When Daddy got home I told him to cover his eyes and just count. Nicholas went to go hide – 3 rounds of hide and go seek. Wow. So shocking – and oh so wonderful.

Grandma and Nicholas were playing with playdoh and Grandma tried to help nicholas with something. He told her that he wanted to do it. Both of us were floored.

Went to Target today – walked around aimlessly for what seemed like HOURS. No tantrum, no craziness, nothing. He was a perfectly behaved child.

There was one other thing which surprised us – can’t remember at the moment – will update tomorrow when it hits me.

Started Creatine today

Added 312.5mg Creatine

(So I remember, that’s a pinch – 1/16th of a teaspoon – a hint = 1/8th of a teaspoon)

Update 11/27/08 – increased dose to a pinch 2x per day.
Update 1/26/09 – increased dose to a pinch 3x per day.
Update 2/4/09 – increased dose to a hint 3x per day. – 625mg 3x per day

(So I dont have to keep looking this up, Bock’s recommendation is 750mg to several grams per day, depending on size, age and other treatments and indications.)

What’s Nicholas doing now?

Nicholas is doing some new stuff that’s pretty exciting…..

Today, he traced his hand on his drawing board, then took his hand off and drew fingernails on each finger.

He’s been spelling some words like STOP.

He’s telling me when he poops and needs a diaper change. (Which is good because we are going to try potty training again over the holidays)

When he wakes up in the morning, he says “good morning mommy”

He now says, “I want to take bath”

He lets me clean his ears and clip his nails without a fight.

He’s taking off his clothes and even his diaper on demand.

He recognizes holidays now – knew all about Halloween and is now knows who Santa is, knows what a Christmas tree is, etc.

He’s counting now – we count cars passing us on the road, he tells me he wants three trains on his track, etc. This is not the obsessive continual lining stuff up and counting routine. (He never did that, but I wanted to clarify for future reference.)

He wants to have a “tea party” with us now. He got a new ice cream playdough toy and now wants to make and serve us playdough ice cream.

(I have a mental block on the other stuff at the moment, so I have to come back and edit as I remember.)

Started Transfer Factor today

I’ve been reading alot of great things about Transfer Factor, so I decided to give it a shot and see how it goes.

It helps immune system cells to communicate with one another, which essentially means that it enables one immune cell to teach another cell to identify pathogens. It can also help with allergies and low-grade viral infections in the gut.

Skipping chelation this weekend

We’re not chelating this weekend. Nicholas is going to his first sleepover (we hope) at Grandma and Grandpa’s house. We tried this once before many months ago, but Nicholas ended up coming home after midnight. We’re hoping that he gets it this time and goes to bed for them so we can have some time to get up into our attic and pull our Christmas decorations down.

Started Acetyl L-Carnitine today

I started Nicholas on Acetyl L-Carnitine today. I gave him 125mg to start.

Update 11/27/2008 – increasing dose to 187.5 mg — I cannot remember how I split the dose to 125mg – it may have actually been 187.5)

(So I remember, the measurement on this dose is 1/2 of a pinch 2x per day on an empty stomach)

Fellow Mom Needs Help

One of our fellow mothers is in trouble. Because she is seeking biomedical intervention for her son, Marc, who has autism AND lyme disease, a doctor reported her to child protective services. They are now threatening to take her boy away. In Texas, if a child is taken by CPS, none of the family is allowed to see the child, not grandma, grandpa, aunts, uncles, etc. So for all intensive purposes this family would have NO contact with Marc. She is being accused of Munchausen’s Syndrome.

Mommy, Where’s Daddy?

Yesterday, Nicholas asked me where Daddy was. I almost fell over. Clear as a bell.

“Mommy, Where’s Daddy?”

“outside talking on the phone, he will be right back”

“okay”

“There’s Daddy!”

I have said it before and I’ll say it again – it’s all in there just waiting to come out!
