I love you, mommy.

Not only did I get a kiss, that I did NOT ask for, but it was followed by an “I love you, mommy” —  wow.

Holy Word Explosion, Batman!

Wow, the words coming out of Nicholas are phenominal.  I. am. loving. it.

He’s using words like whistle, blanket – I can’t even think of them all now.  New words we’ve never heard him use before – and they’re coming out of nowhere — he didn’t repeat us saying them!  See, I knew this stuff was in there somewhere!

He’s back to wanting to do puzzles – and is really checking out all of his toys (and he has a small fortune in toys) and carefully selecting what he wants to play with.  The interaction while doing the puzzles is just amazing, I could not be happier.  He’s naming things, making animal sounds – and this is all UNPROMPTED.  Yippeeeeeeeeeeeee

I bought Nicholas a tiger t-shirt -= and showed him that he had a tiger on his shirt.  He said “tiger” and then roared!  I was so happy I could have cried.

He noticed a little puppy dog embroidered on the collar of his shirt yesterday, kind of like the izod logo.  It was too adorable.  Not too long ago, Nicholas was unphased by the things on his clothing and could have cared less.

We’re on tag patrol.  Where his shirt taggies used to be something he enjoyed playing with, now he finds a tag, and comes running, ‘scissors, scissors!!  mommy need scissors” = so cute – I have to get the scissors and cut out the tag.  He just loves this.  It’s like he hit the lottery.

Eggs, eggs, everywhere

Happy Easter!

Before Nicholas got up, I hid about 30 plastic easter eggs all over the house.  I left a few coming down the stairs and one in a basket.  He immediately knew what to do.  (I have no idea how) This was so incredibly cute – he started running all over and picking up all of the eggs, looking under the sofa cushions, under the table, on the diningroom chairs, in the window, etc. etc.  He hadn’t even found them all and then wanted to sit and open them all.  You had to see his face when he realized that they had candy and playdoh in them – priceless.  More for the playdoh than the candy, thank goodness.  One gene he did not inherit from me is my love of chocolate.  Good, more for me.  🙂

We had reservations for an early dinner – and Nicholas was really, really good.  He gets an A+ for his behaviour in the restaurant and we were there a long time.  A. Long. Time.  He was great through appetizers and dinner, even though we had to send his back because his pasta was just too hard for him.

The Easter Bunny brought Nicholas a couple of movies – The Bee Movie and 101 Dalmations (ok, these were totally for me 🙂 haha)  – we watched them both today – and even put Bee Movie on for a 2nd time – and he was loving them.  Fantastic.  Bee Movie was so cute, we all loved it.

Nicholas’s belly is coming back down – thank god.  Not sure if I mentioned it, but I measured it like a week ago and it was 25 inches – yikes!  Yeast is not a good thing.  Also, I have been able to make a direct correlation to his ginormous appetite and yeast flareup.  He only eats in mass quantites when yeast is an issue.  Poor kid.

Urinary Porphryns Results

Well, I got Nicholas’s Urinary Porphryns Results back from France….  in short, this confirms Mercury, Lead and Arsenic poisoning.

Here are some more details:
His uroporphryn was 30 nmol (reference range 8-20) – elevated due to xenobiotic exposure; pcb’s, pesticides, toxic chemicals and dioxins  (arsenic and aluminum can cause this number to be elevated.)
His Heptacarboxyporphryn was 4.6 (reference range 2-5)
His hexacarboxyporphryn was within range at 1.0 (ref range 0.5-1.5)
His Pentacarboxyporphyn was 4.6 (ref range 2-4)
His Precoproporphryn was high at 15 (ref range 5-9) – this is a marker for mercury exposure as this is only found in urine when person has elevated levels of mercury
His coproporphyrn was high at 398 (ref range 100-200) – this shows an overall toxic metal burden in the body; shows exposure to lead, mercury and arsenic.  Because the copro is more elevated than the precopro, another metal is at play here (lead or arsenic)

What’s your name? Nick!

Wow – finally, finally, finally!!!!!!!!!!  Nicholas can say his own name.  About half of the time when you ask him what his name is, he’ll respond with a NICK! — It’s not Nicholas, but it’s a start!  Yay!!!

Small victories is what this journey is all about – and I’m taking this one like a proud mama bear!

UP ALL NIGHT

Ok, so starting off with 1/4 cap of the adrenal cortex extract wasn’t the right thing to do.  Shit.  We were up all night for the past three nights with Nicholas.  In case you were wondering, I’ve stopped giving it to him and will start with a sprinkle every morning once his sleep habits to back to normal.

Update on Nicholas

Nicholas is doing really well.  He’s playing with the other kids at school, sharing toys – now he’s even sharing stuff with us at home (food, treats, etc) – fantastic!!

His eye contact is amazing- he seeks us out to look at him now, it just blows my mind.

From what I hear, he really enjoys playing in the kitchen at school – and of course, loves playing with the trains.  I’ve heard that they’re astonished at how he plays with his toys and even happier that he’s sharing them!

Gotta run… more later!
