The dreaded bloodwork

So, we took Nicholas for a round of bloodwork today.  It was excruciating for us and for him.  Poor little guy.  I’m so glad it’s over with at this point, I just dread taking him.  I’m anxious to get the results so we know where we are going next.  Here’s what we had done today:

Great Smokies/Geneva Diagnostics Food Antibody Assessment:  88 foods (IgE and IgG combined) – we wanted this test done because I want to change his diet, but dont want to end up giving him foods that may cause additional harm.

Methylmalonic acid, MTHFR (mom and dad also were tested for this), Homocysteine, Celiac panel (I believe he may have Celiac), Anti DNAse B, ASO Titers.

The lab never told me I needed to come in early afternoon because they didn’t quite know how to deal with the Great Smokies test.  Luckily, I found some great people working in the lab (in our local hospital) who did what they needed to his blood before I had to take it home, freeze it and then ship it.  Thank goodness – those people were absolute angels.  The thought of having to subject Nicholas to another blood draw would have made me cry.

Urinary Porphryns test on it’s way to France!

Shipped this today.  I am praying it gets there!

This test will give us additional information on heavy metals, mercury body burden evaluation, heavy metal intoxication, etc.

In case you’re wondering, you can order a free test kit from labbio.net – and do not need a doctor’s signature or Rx to order it.

We finally did the MOAT panel

I shipped out the Microbial Organic Panel to Great Plains Lab today.   Yay!!

This checks for yeast and bacteria byproducts.

Can’t wait to see the results of this one!

Added 2 supplements today

The fun gummy bears that Nicholas loves…..

Yummy Bears Calcium +D: 375mg Calcium and 300IU Vitamin D-3 (as Cholecalciferol)

Yummy Bears Fiber:  1200mg Fiber (Chickory Root) and 15mcg Choline (as choline citrate) and 15mcg Inositol — right now, I am only giving him 1/2 dose since a 15 day bottle was over $15, so I need to find a cheaper place other than Whole Foods, or as I call it, “Whole paycheck” – because they’re supplements are WAY overpriced.

Microbiology Analysis Kit Shipped today!

I sent in the Microbiology Analysis kit to Great Smokies today.

Update on Nicholas

Nicholas has been doing so well.  🙂  He has a journey yet ahead of him, but he’s really continuing to do better and better each day of the week.  We’ve been doing daily MB-12 injections for about 5-6 days now and he’s just talking up a storm!  He’s running into school in the morning.  We just have to walk him to the door, open the door and off he goes.  The days of dragging him into the school and down the hallways to the classroom appear to be over.  Yippee!!  He seems to be playing catch-up as far as his development goes.  He’s now calling “mommy” constantly.  Mommy, mommy, mommy, mommy… you get the point.  He’s now wanting us to play “with” him and actually seeks out the interaction from us – it is amazing to see.  I’ve read that once these kids get going, they play rapid catch up developmentally, so I’m going to start comparing milestones to what he’s doing so we can see where he is and how far he needs to go.

Two weeks ago, Daddy got the flu.  A week ago, Mommy & Grandma had the flu.  Nicholas…. no flu.  With the arsenal of vitamins/minerals he’s taking, I’m not even surprised.

We called grandma at work a couple of weeks ago – Nicholas got on the phone and had his first real conversation on the phone.  He told grandma that he was watching Nihao Kai-lan and that Tolley was jumping up and down on the TT (TV).  Impressive to say the least.  🙂

Wes said that Nicholas has been doing really well in school and that he was playing with the other kids in class today.  He even offered a toy to the new boy in his class.  Wow.  Fantastic.
