Round 3 is behind us!

We finished round 3 early this morning. We added ALA this round. I started with 8mg ALA along with the 8mg DMSA and it seemed to cause stomach upset when given when he didn’t have something to eat with it. So, I cut the ALA down to half of that and started giving him snacks at the same time. That seemed to work since we didn’t see any other stomach upset.

By Sunday, Nicholas was amazing. We had such a good time with him just hanging around the house. He started playing with us – egging us on to chase him around – playing hide and seek – it was amazing. He seemed so vividly clear, it was one of those nights where you don’t want to put him to bed! So we took him out to dinner. I know he likes the games at Fuddruckers, so we took him there. He had a blast! This time I actually made sure I had plenty of quarters, so he played all kinds of video games, played with the crane (which he loves and got lots of useless crappy junk toy prizes that we left behind for the next kid). He came and ate for a little while, then he was off and running back to the games to play more. When it was time to leave, he walked out (didn’t have to be carried), no tantrum, no crying – got into his seat in the car and that was it.

Think this doesn’t effect you? This will effect every single person on this earth if something isn’t done about this. Take action – this is not something you should let pass by without fighting for.

New probiotics added today

I am adding threelac back in to see if it helps with yeast.
Also adding in CP-1 (Custom Probiotics)

Note from the teacher

Teacher:

Today, Nicholas helped me carry my apple papers. He listened a little but still fights structure. How is he doing at home?

Mommy:

Nicholas has been doing well at home. His receptive language seems to be much better – I feel like he is actually beginning to understand us. I have been able to take him to Target (without having him strapped into a cart) – yes, he was free to walk around the store with me, not me with him for a change! And he actually did very well, I was shocked – the trip did not end with him crying or having a tantrum which in itself is huge. He is still stubborn about wanting to do what he wants to do when he wants to do it, but we’ve been working on that with him and we feel like we are actually beginning to get through.

While he doesn’t get what “time out” means, he does not like being put in time out in his room – so instead of telling him he’s going to time out, we give him a choice of 1) doing what we want him to or 2) going to his room to go to bed. We don’t even have to put him in his room once a day anymore. I do have to repeat his options twice or three times, but he is beginning to know if I have to say it 3x, then he’s automatically going to his room. I’ve started to sneak in “time out” so he begins to get the association.
He still remains to be stuck on certain things – like playing with water. He could stand at the sink and let the water run for hours if we let him. Telling him he’s going to his room to bed if he doesn’t leave the kitchen has been working despite him being stuck on playing with the water.

He seems to be fine with the routines we have here at home, but they probably don’t compare to the structure of a classroom.

I love you Mommy!

Nicholas came home today all smiles as he got off the school bus. Handed me his backpack as we walked across the lawn and into the house. Right to the kitchen, to the freezer for his chicken nuggets. 🙂 So cute.
As he is eating them, he runs out of ketchup – “more ketchie please mommy”
“you have ketchup on your plate nicholas – use that first”
“I love you mommy” “more ketchie please”
Not only was that the 2nd time I heard I love you in 2 days (and only the 3rd time ever) – but he was using it to get what he wanted. Brilliant!

Vaccine Safety and Children with Immune Disorders

Courtesy of Juan Rodriguez, September 8, 2008 on the Autism-Mercury Yahoo Group; posted with permission:

I am not opposed to selective vaccination either as long as vaccines are admistered correctly. But there is the problem, pediatricians and not following the Vaccine safety guidelines from the vaccine manufacturers. Even the CDC says that vaccines are safe for children with healthy immune systems and that might be true. But how do they know what children have healthy immune systems or not. For example, Merck pharmaceuticals with is the manufacturer of the MMR vaccines clearly states that the MMR vaccine should not be administered to individuals with immunodeficient conditions.

The problem is that children are not been screened for immune disorders before they are administered vaccines. That is why I am saying that I am not for selective vaccination either. If children were screened for immune disorders and tested positive with many will do then they would not receive certain vaccines based on the vaccines manufacturers recommendations.

I wanted to share this information with you about why I think vaccines should be administered more carefully by our children’s pediatricians.

In the first two articles below, one by Merck Pharmaceuticals and other by the Center for Disease Control are saying that vaccines are safe for children with normal immune systems. Merck clearly states that the MMR vaccine should not be administered to children with immunodeficient conditions

Please think about how the pediatricians know that the children they will administer the vaccines have immunodeficient conditions. They don’t. The only way to know is by ordering lab tests. Many children look very healthy on the outside, but their bodies are very sick.

There are available lab tests to screen for autoimmune disorders that can be easily performed to test children before they are administered vaccines.

Most autistic children have inflammatory and autoimmune disorders. Even children with other neurological disorders have the same problems. Many children will test positive for autoimmune disorders if these lab tests are peformed.

MMR Vaccine safety guidelines by Merck Pharmaceuticals
ProQuad should not be administered to certain individuals, including those with any of the following: an immunodeficient condition.

Vaccine safety article by the Center for Disease Control
Is simultaneous vaccination with multiple vaccines safe? Wouldn’t it be safer to separate combination vaccines and spread them out, vaccinating against just one disease at a time? The available scientific data show that simultaneous vaccination with multiple vaccines has no adverse effect on the normal childhood immune system.

Testing for autoimmune disorders
http://www.nlm.nih.gov/medlineplus/ency/article/000816.htm

The five lab tests below can be used to diagnose autoimmune disorders:
Erythrocyte sedimentation rate (ESR) – It is a nonspecific screening test that indirectly measures how much inflammation is in the body.

C-reactive protein (CRP) – Is a test that measures the amount of a protein in the blood that signals acute inflammation.

Interleukin-6 (IL-6) – Elevated IL-6 serum or plasma levels may occur in different conditions including sepsis, autoimmune diseases, lymphomas, AIDS, alcoholic liver disease, and in patients with infections or transplant rejection.

Tumor Necrosis Factor-á –(TNF-á) serum or plasma levels may be elevated in sepsis, autoimmune diseases, various infectious diseases and transplant rejection.

Natural Killer Cell and Activated T-Cell Profile (Immune Panel)- Assess changes in T-lymphocyte surface markers that may indicate immune stimulation

I hope this information is useful to all of you.

Oxypowder – Buy 3 get 1 free

Oxypowder has been quite remarkable in keeping Nicholas’s bowels moving. I recommend this supplement to people more than anything else he’s on since our kids have such issues with constipation because of GI issues or yeast.
They’re having a sale, which I believe may be once a year – buy 3 bottles, get 1 free. This is well worth it, so I just wanted to share the deal!

NJ Obama Corzine Vaccine Rally

Autism parents are nothing short of amazing. Keep in mind, we know what happened to our children and yet, we still continue to fight for YOUR children. The ones who got through unharmed. The ones we call NT (neurotypical) – the ones we want to see remain NT.

A very last minute vaccine rally was thrown together on the lawn of a fellow NJ Autism mom. People came from throughout the state and even NY to get our message through to Barack Obama on his way to a dinner at Bon Jovi’s house.

Barack did drive by, but NJ Govenor Corzine actually stopped and talked to the rally-goers….

Read about it here: NJ Obama Corzine Vaccine Rally

McCain & Obama: What are you going to do about CODEX Alimentarius?

And how are you going to protect our freedom to healthy food, vitamins & minerals, herbs, etc?

Our kids will suffer needlessly should their nutritional supplements get taken away by the laws intended to be imposed by Codex Alimentarius. Kids not yet diagnosed with autism-like symptoms due to heavy meatal poisoning will not be able to recover if the supplements required for their recovery are taken away.

Fact is, more people die every year due to pharmaceutical drugs than nutritional supplements. And yet, big pharma just doesn’t have enough money rolling in. So let’s take the vitamins, minerals, herbs, etc. away and pump everyone full of drugs instead. Let’s irradiate the food supply so people will get sicker, faster – and won’t have any of the benefits of fresh, healthy foods to help their body thrive or stay healthy.

Folks, when does this start to sound like a conspiracy? Why is it that big pharma can rid the world of their competition? Why is it that they are not after truly helping people and that their main focus is the bottom line?

Obama: “I am not for selective vaccination.”

John McCain is looking better to me every day, despite the fact that I’m not thrilled with what I’ve read about Sarah Palin. Obama’s statement is merely the icing on the cake. This is one freedom I will not keep quiet about.

Obama: “I am not for selective vaccination.”
By Claudine Liss

Last Friday evening, September 5, 2008, I had the opportunity to ask Senator Barack Obama about childhood vaccine safety/choice. His response, “I am not for selective vaccination, I believe that it will bring back deadly diseases, like polio.”

He went onto say in so many words that he is for more science and the funding of more science if it’s needed. (His science response is fuzzy, as his first response stunned me for a second). I previously gave his staffer a folder of information on vaccines. The Senator promised me that he would take a look at it.

I thank you Senator Obama for stating your opinion on vaccines. Feel free to elaborate or clarify in the future.

Senator McCain, Do you have an opinion on vaccine safety/choice? Will you accept and review the same packet of information Senator Obama promised me that he would review?

Senators, here’s some common sense information to ponder: (I am purposely keeping things simple.)

1. Every barbeque I went to this past summer had at least one (1) autistic child in attendance; several parties had children with severe food allergies and/or food processing issues. One infant I met can’t process sugar. (Approx. 10 parties in different US locations, as far away as CA.) Maybe I am wrong, but this does not seem right to me. What are the odds?

2. I make it a point to talk to longtime educators. Longtime educators can compare children of today with children of 25 plus years ago. Many educators that I have talked to are concerned, which makes me concerned, see, their students are suffering from chronic asthma, food allergies, arthritis, diabetes, ADD, ADHD, other learning disabilities, speech problems, sensory perception issues, autism, and on and on. The children they taught 25 years ago did not have these problems/illnesses in such great numbers.

3. The need for special education teachers and facilities keeps growing. Why?

4. 1 in 6 US children have some form of a learning disability, a year 2004 CDC number.

5. The US government admits to a vaccine-autism connection (Poling decision), and States continue to mandate new vaccines for school entrance (i.e.: flu shot in NJ). Caution thrown to the wind, in my opinion.

6. What about other nations? To the best of my knowledge, Canada. England, Japan and other foreign nations allow their parents to opt into their respective vaccine protocols. To the best of my knowledge, children are not kept out of school if they are not vaccinated or selectively vaccinated. Are diseases killing children in these countries? Are the rates of chronic illness in their children equal to the US figures? Are we being guided by fear in the US instead of logic? Are we eradicating certain diseases and replacing them with chronic autoimmune and/or neurological illnesses?

7. The US government, to the best of my knowledge, has never studied the health of the fully vaccinated, under-vaccinated, and un-vaccinated populations to compare and contrast chronic illness rates. Why?

Senators McCain and Senator Obama, if you decide to speak out publicly on the vaccine issue, please do me a favor and first read information from some of the people mentioned below. Some really bright people have been talking/writing about vaccine choice/safety for years and years; Philip Incao, M.D., Mayer Eisenstein M.D. (Chicago), Sherri Tenpanny D.O., Harris L. Coulter, Ph.D., Tedd Koren D.C., Barbara Loe Fisher, Amy L. Lansky Ph.D., Tim O’Shea, D.C., Neil Miller, Kenneth Boch, M.D., Bryan Jepson M.D., Jane Johnson, Robert Mendelsohn, M.D., Randall Neustaedter, O.M.D., Stephanie Cave, M.D., Bernard Rimland Ph.D. There are many more from all over the world not mentioned here. (The latest addition is Jon Poling, M.D.)

Both of you have daughters. Start with Charlotte Haug, M.D., Ph.D’s recent article on Gardasil posted in the New England Journal of Medicine.
